My family and I are HUGE fans of Marvel movies and series, especially The Avengers movie. After seeing the movie on opening day in our local theater in Vermont, I was inspired to come up with some delicious and awesome Avengers recipes.
And here they are! Chocolate-covered sandwich cookies for Black Widow. Chocolate and almond-filled pastries for Black Panther. A red, white, and blue all-American apple pie for Captain America. And bright green, Pop Rocks-laced rice Krispie treats for the Hulk.

The cinematic inspiration
Anytime any Marvel movie or series is released, you can count on me and my family to be there. That's especially true of the movie debuts at the theater; you just can't beat the experience of catching action-packed and visually breathtaking movies on the big screen.
This was especially true in 2018 when Avengers: Infinity War hit the theaters. We had our tickets, we’ve chose our favorite superhero shirts, and we were there for opening night.
How about you? Were you in the theater for this movie, too? How many times did you go see it?
We went several because the movie was every bit as amazing as amazing as we knew it would be. Of course, we didn't know just how HUGE of a cliffhanger we would be left with at the end. We left the theater after the first viewing stunned with the impact, in disbelief that it would be a whole additional year before we would get any answers in Avengers: Endgame!
In the weeks leading up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, I thought it would be fun to come up with some creative Avengers-themed recipes! I even got to share them on the morning news.

Black Widow Chocolate-Covered Cookies
"I've got red in my ledger." Chocolate cookies are sandwiched with blood-red buttercream, then dipped in chocolate and topped with a red fondant black widow mark.
For the Incredible Hulk

Hulk Smash! Rice Krispie Treats
"Puny god!" Regular rice Krispie treats are transformed with Candy Melts that turn them green and purple! They're also laced with Pop Rocks for exciting pops as you eat them.
For Black Panther

Black Panther Claws Pastry
"This is no place to die." I took inspiration from bear claws pastry to make this version that looks like panther claws! The yeasted dough is filled with almonds paste and chocolate, with more chocolate and sliced almonds to decorate the tops.
For Captain America

Captain America's All-American Apple Pie
"I could do this all day!" This pie has a flaky crust and a cinnamon-spiced apple filling. The real magic is on the top, where rings of red, white, and blue pie pastry form Cap's patriotic shield.

For the release of Avengers: Infinity War, I was invited to share my Avengers-themed recipes with Meteorologist Amanda Thibault and the Morning Brew crew at Burlington, Vermont's Local 22/44 station.
