This Blueberry Sauce came together to top our crêpes one morning, as I wrote about in my Crêpes Sunday post. It is a thick and sweet sauce, a delicious accompaniment to breakfast dishes like pancakes, muffins and crêpes. It also plays nicely with desserts, spooned over vanilla ice cream, or layered in a parfait.
The recipe is below. To read more about our Crêpes Sunday click here. For another great fruit sauce, Simmered Apples with Cinnamon & Cardamom click here!
- 1-1/3 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice powder
- In a medium pan, stir together the blueberries, sugar, water and lemon juice powder. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring often. Cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture has thickened. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Serve while warm.
